Everything You Need to Know About Westside Bend

Did you know Bend is Oregon’s biggest city east of the Willamette Valley? Today, Bend is ranked as the nation’s second-fastest-growing city in America, and it’s not hard to understand why. With more sun-filled days east of the Cascades, Bend provides endless opportunities to explore the outdoors. Local favorites include skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, floating the famous Deschutes River, and so much more. Bend is also now the remote working capital of the U.S, giving residents here time to soak it all in (and take advantage of those afternoon beer breaks).

And some of the best activities and hotspots the area has to offer is available on the Westside of Bend. Here you can find:

Adventure Outside

Central Oregon’s best outdoor activities are practically outside your door on Bend’s Westside. Those living here get to bypass a commute across town to Bend’s most popular destination for outdoor sports. Whether you’re mountain biking on Phil’s Trail, snowboarding or skiing at Mt. Bachelor, or kayaking in Mirror Pond, you can take in the breathtaking Central Oregon landscape.

Taste of Fun

The Westside of Bend makes it super easy to wind down. After a day of adventure or work, you can raise a pint in a fantastic range of microbreweries. Officially named Beer City USA in 2017, Bend plays host to over 22 breweries, many right here on the Westside. Try award-winning craft beers at local hotspots like Deschutes Brewery, 10 Barrel Brewery, and Boneyard Brewing—or explore the Ale Trail at your leisure.

Just like the endless beer options around here, there’s also no shortage of incredible restaurants. With every cuisine imaginable, from upscale Northwestern at Zydeco Kitchen to cultural specialties like Indian at Joolz and Northern Thai at Wild Rose, you can find anything you crave on the Westside and in Bend’s Downtown, Old Mill District, and nearby neighborhoods.

Westside Schools

Access to good schools is crucial for parents or soon-to-be parents looking to live in Westside Bend. The Bend-La Pine school district is the fifth-largest school district in Oregon, with nine school options ranging from public, private, magnet, and more for children of all ages. In-district public schools for our communities listed above are W.E. Miller Elementary, Pacific Crest Middle, and Summit High.

Other Pahlisch Communities Beyond Bend’s West

Residents of Petrosa get to enjoy a resort-like lifestyle where they can live, work, and play year-round with shopping, swimming pools, parks, green spaces, paths, a new neighborhood school, and so much more.

Redmond

A quick 15 minutes north of Bend, you’ll find a more rural lifestyle while still providing easy access to everything. Redmond is significantly smaller than Bend, but still punches above its weight class with an impressive selection of dining, shopping, and outdoor activities. And it’s hard to beat the uninterrupted views of the Cascade Mountains.

In Redmond, you’ll also find the famous Smith Rock State Park, Pronghorn Resort, and our Pahlisch Homes community, Trailside.
