Honoring a Dear Friend’s Legacy

We cherish every community we’ve had the fortune to build over the last 40-plus years. But the story behind Mark’s Place holds special meaning for the Pahlisch family.

The community is named after Mark Nielsen, a close friend and business partner of Dennis Pahlisch. Dennis and Mark once owned land near where Mark’s Place sits today. They had plans to develop it together, but after Mark’s passing many years ago, that land had to be released.

Years later, Pahlisch Homes had the opportunity to purchase land in the same area as the plot Mark and Dennis owned together. It was decided that this community would be a tribute to Mark’s adventurous spirit and great love of the outdoors with its green spaces, lush trees, and paved trails.

Celebrating the Launch of a New Community

One way we work to encourage this sense of belonging is by hosting events that the whole community can enjoy. This past July, we were thrilled to host a big party celebrating the grand opening of Mark’s Place. Despite record-breaking temperatures, over 100 guests joined us and enjoyed food, wine, and entertainment from some of Canby’s best local businesses. While kids cooled off on the giant inflatable waterslide, our team held tours in our lovely (and air-conditioned!) model home. Some lucky guests even went home with an inflatable paddle board and other prizes from our raffle.

The event was a huge hit among neighbors who currently live there, homeowners waiting for their home to be completed, and those from the area coming by to see what Mark’s Place is all about. We’re so grateful for everyone who showed up — we love to bring people together to have fun and create memories, no matter the weather. But maybe next time we’ll cross our fingers that it’ll be a few degrees cooler!

David Wilson is one of the landowners, and he’s eager to see progress. He manages about 400 acres in the area on behalf of his family, including seven siblings. “If you look at a map of the Tri-Cities, the center is right at west Pasco, where the gravel pit is,” Wilson said. “(Growth) will naturally come that way.” He inked a development deal with Pahlisch Homes after visiting the Bend, Ore.-based developer and seeing its past and present projects. Street of Dreams to build in Hillsboro in 2018 - Hillsboro Tribune

Next summer, the 2018 Northwest Natural Street of Dreams will be held in South Hillsboro, the massive housing development currently under construction along Tualatin Valley Highway. The annual housing showcase, which just wrapped up its 2017 event in Happy Valley, will showcase more than a half-dozen homes starting in August 2018. “Everybody’s excited,” said Dennis Pahlisch, owner of Pahlisch Homes, which is hosting the event in South Hillsboro. “It’s been a long process to make this happen. Bend City Council OKs River Vale development - Bend Bulletin

A 37-acre, 78-home subdivision on the south end of Bend along the Deschutes River won preliminary approval Wednesday from the Bend City Council. Councilors voted 7-0 to allow Pahlisch Homes to build the River Vale development, which would be bordered by the Deschutes River to the west and the private River Rim community to the east and runs into the city’s urban growth boundary at the south end. It still requires one more vote. Pahlisch Homes project manager Chad Bettesworth said the development should provide housing that fits city needs. “Hopefully we can be a friendly, good developer with the city of Bend,” Bettesworth said.
