Northwest Traditional

Northwest Traditional takes its roots from historic styles like the Craftsman. But unlike a true Craftsman — known for ornamental, decorative exteriors — Northwest Traditional is a more simplistic blend of classic architectural styles. This helps homes in the Northwest Traditional style appeal to a wide range of homebuyers.

Some typical features of the Northwest Traditional style include:

• Medium to low-pitched roof with occasional stick-framed porch or patio.
• Primarily lap siding with optional masonry accents.
• Tall windows with fractional grids at the top.

Columbia Farmhouse

When many people hear the term “farmhouse,” they likely picture the modern farmhouse style made popular by Joanna Gaines. Since her show “Fixer Upper” first aired in 2013, her modern farmhouse style — complete with shiplap walls and rustic barn doors — has exploded in popularity.

At Pahlisch, our new Columbia Farmhouse style evolves this modern farmhouse trend. With more contemporary accents, the Columbia Farmhouse style feels less rustic than recent takes on the farmhouse look while maintaining some cozy charm. Think of it as a new take on an old favorite.

Some typical features of the Columbia Farmhouse style include:

• Classic gables with occasional varying eave heights to give a more updated, asymmetrical look.
• Board and batten siding (with some optional masonry accents).
• Single hung windows with simple, symmetrical grids.

Cascade Contemporary

If you’re more “fresh and bold” than “simple and timeless,” our Cascade Contemporary style may be the one for you. Borrowing from mid-century modern principles, the single sloped roof and off-center windows of this progressive style put it right in step with current mainstream architecture.

Some typical features of the Cascade Contemporary style include:

• Mixed materials on the facade, including horizontal, paneled, and/or vertical orientations, as well as masonry accents.
• Multi-pane window configurations (sometimes anchored on the corner of the house) with modern horizontal grids or no grids at all.
• Single-slope roof forms with varying eave heights.

Pacific Nordic

If you’ve spent any amount of time on interior design Instagram in the past few years, you’ve probably come across the word “Hygge” (pronounced “Hoo-gah”). It’s a Danish term that when applied to the world of architecture, evokes comfort, warmth, and contentment.

Inspired by simplicity and minimalism, our Pacific Nordic style puts a more functional spin on this Scandinavian approach to home design. It also emphasizes cohesiveness between indoors and outdoors, with taller windows and more natural light. 

Some typical features of the Pacific Nordic style include:

• Simple roof forms with a mix of pitches.
• Horizontal lap siding as the primary material on the facade, with vertical siding added to create a unique directional contrast.
• Taller windows that are clean and void of grids.
